Deep into the earth deep into the mind
Deep into the Earth, Deep into the Mind
This exhibition presents a series of photographs taken approximately two kilometers inside a mountain cave. The images document the unexpected diversity of colors and textures found beneath the Earth's surface.
While the compositions may appear abstract, they record factual visual phenomena, illustrating that abstraction is inherently present in the natural world.
Parallel to the photographs, I made series of paintings that visualize this same journey inward my mind.
While the camera captures external reality with precision, painting allows for the representation of internal states — thoughts, emotions, and subjective experiences that cannot be objectively recorded. Together, the photographs and paintings explore the relationship between the observable world and the inner processes of human perception and feeling.
This project suggests that journeys into physical depths can mirror introspective journeys into the mind, revealing complexities in both natural and psychological landscapes.
